Bias or why we’re not perfect
Anyone that tells you, as a journalist or otherwise, that they are free of bias is a liar.
Every single person on this Earth has a different window on the world, a unique set of experiences from which to base their judgements on. These can not be completely ignored. And thus a “journalist” can only go so far to make any story “objective.” A good journalist will strive for it with every piece, but still, by the mere fact of having been born he or she will tint the story in some way.
The best a news piece/organisation/ reporter can do is credit their sources, use multiple sources, and get as many of the opposing views into one article as possible all while keeping their own personality to a minimum. It is then up to you, the reader, viewer to go out among the aether collect as many of these stories as you can and somewhere in the middle of the opinions, half-truths, lies of omission and general information-overload sits the actual truth. It’s an amalgamation of information that you are required and expected to decode and interpret yourself. With that being said, and as this is not an “official” news source, and because I feel like simply ignoring all the rules I just laid out in the preceeding paragraphs I’m just going to throw out some of my biases.
